Give your day care and summer programs a different kind of summer excursion. Don't take the kids to the same
pool or playground again!
Bring your kids to the Village this summer. It's the only place they'll see chickens and sheep in the middle of Dallas.
They'll even get to meet Nip and Tuck, our Mammoth Jack donkeys. We have plenty of green space and even a picnic area for lunch.
Everyone wants to make sure a good time is had by all. Even Nip and Tuck are working hard filling their
saddlebags with lots of stories, games and crafts for your kids. You'll have your choice between two different "Nip and Tuck's
Saddlebags." For summer 2010, kids (and adults) can discover historic "Log Cabins" or "Toys and Games." Plus,
learn even more when you work together to find all the answers to a history hunt designed specially for the summer.

E-mail: [email protected]
How can I pay for my field trip?
We accept checks (payable to Dallas Heritage Village), MasterCard, Visa and American Express. You can also pay at the
gate with cash, credit card, or check.
What if the number of students or chaperones changes?
If your numbers change prior to your payment, adjust the invoice accordingly. If you choose to pay in advance,
we do not provide refunds for absent students. If your numbers are larger than expected, you can also pay for the
additional students or chaperones at the gate.
I need to cancel my tour. What do I do?
Any field trip can be cancelled with a full refund up to two weeks prior to your scheduled visit. If you cancel
less than two weeks before your visit, you will not be refunded. You can reschedule or receive a credit towards
future field trips.
How many chaperones should we bring?
We require one adult for every ten students. However, there is no limit to the number of chaperones you may bring.
THE DAY OF YOUR FIELD TRIP
Where exactly is Dallas Heritage Village?
Dallas Heritage Village is located at 1515 South Harwood, just one block south of Farmers Market.
Where do we park? How much does parking cost?
Parking is free! Chaperones can park in our Visitor’s Parking Lot.
What time should we arrive?
We begin checking in groups at 10 am. Please send one adult into the Ticket Office to begin the process.
Our staff will direct your students to a location away from the main entrance, where we will orient your group.
What will be provided for my group?
We have specially designed worksheets and scavenger hunts, appropriate for all ages. New this year are "Nip and Tuck’s
Saddlebags." Choose between Log Cabins or Toys and Games. Inside the bags, you’ll find activities to complete as
you explore the Village. Our field trips are self-guided and self-paced.
How much time should we allow at Dallas Heritage Village?
Most groups spend around three hours touring the Village, including time for lunch.
I really want a guided tour for my students. Can I schedule one?
With 38 historic structures, we’ve discovered it’s best for students to be self-guided and self-paced.
At this time, we do not offer guided tours for summer field trip groups. However, there may be historic
characters located throughout the Village and some buildings may have volunteers giving tours.
Who are the people in costume?
As you tour the Village, you may meet staff in historic clothing. Their job is to interact with your
students as a “voice from the past.” They’ll act as if they live in a specific moment in time. During the
summer months, we cannot guarantee how many historic characters will be here on any given day.
Where do we eat lunch?
Picnic tables and plenty of green space are available in Nancy’s Garden. In case of inclement weather,
we will make every effort to find an alternate eating location for your group. We do not have a place to store lunches.
The weather is supposed to be terrible the day of our field trip! What do I do?
As an outdoor museum, we understand visiting us during inclement weather may not be the best field trip experience.
We are open rain or shine, but will be happy to reschedule your group for another day. If you choose to come,
please make sure your students are dressed accordingly.
Can I bring a camera?
Cameras are welcome, but please no flash photography inside our buildings.
Can we get a ride with Nip and Tuck?
Nip and Tuck, our Mammoth Jack Donkeys, may be providing carriage rides during your visit. Rides are $1 per rider
and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do you have a Museum Store?
Our Museum Store is located in the Ticket Office. Space is limited inside, so we may ask your group to wait outside
until there’s room. We have items at many price levels. You can also pre-order goodie bags for your students,
which can be picked up at your convenience.
I have another question not listed here. How can I contact you?
Call our Reservations Coordinator at 214-413-3674 between 8 a.m. and noon, Monday through Friday, or e-mail
[email protected].
