Birthday Parties

Birthday parties are a fun way to get into the action at Dallas Heritage Village. Just pick your favorite theme & we will provide the fun!



Time Traveler Parties



The Village’s period-themed birthday parties bring history to life for your birthday boy or girl and their guests. Each structured theme lasts approximately 2 hours.

Fee: $275 DHV members; $325 Non-members
Age: children turning 6 and up
Limit: 15 children (additional children are $10 each, up to a maximum of 20)
Facilitator: one Village staff member included for crafts, games and building tours


Texas Ranger Theme
Spend your birthday with the outlaws and heroes of Dallas Heritage Village! Get a front row seat at a live gun fight, make your own Wanted Poster and leather badge, play old-fashioned games and enjoy cake and ice cream on Main Street. (During inclement weather, the rain location will be the Renner School.)
NOTE: Texas Ranger Parties are only scheduled on the first and third Saturdays of the month between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Gun fights are held at Noon and 1 p.m. Ranger Parties are not held in January, February, July, or August.

Pioneer Theme
Party like a pioneer on the Living Farmstead! Feed chickens, visit live animals and ride with Nip & Tuck, the Village donkeys! Make a pioneer toy and craft to take home (a rag doll or scarecrow and a woven basket).
Note: The Pioneer Theme party is dependent on weather. Also, if Nip and Tuck are not giving carriage rides, children will visit the donkey paddock.

Victorian Theme
Come dressed in your finest for this special party! Get a glimpse of upper class Victorian life when you tour the Sullivan House, play parlor games, decorate a paper fan and create an autograph album for your guests to sign.

Main St. Theme
Spend your birthday out on the town at Dallas Heritage Village! Enjoy a root beer while playing games in the Saloon, visit the 1901 General Store and create your own shop apron and treat bag to take home!

Garden Parties



A casual birthday in an historic setting, Garden Parties are held in Nancy’s Garden.* Each theme is self-led and lasts 1 ½ to 2 hours. Picnic tables are reserved in Nancy’s Garden for your party and all supplies can be picked up at the Guest Services Office upon arrival.

Fee: $200 DHV members; $250 Non-members
Age: children turning 5 and up
Limit: 15 children (additional children are $10 each, up to a maximum of 25)
Facilitator: available for an additional $50 to provide general help and lead crafts and tours

Victorian Theme
Enjoy a proper Victorian picnic at Dallas Heritage Village. Make a fancy fan, explore a Victorian home and play a game of croquet before enjoying your cake!

Farmer's Theme
Enjoy your birthday down on the farm! Explore the 1860s Farmstead, feed chickens and make a seed mosaic to take home.

Main Street Theme
Spend your birthday out on the town at Dallas Heritage Village. After enjoying your cake in Nancy’s Garden, make a trip to the Saloon for a root beer, or the General Store for a candy stick. Don’t forget to decorate your treat bag for future town adventures!


NOTE: Dallas Heritage Village is an outdoor museum. Garden Parties are held rain or shine, so remind guests to dress for the weather. Rain locations are subject to availability. If available, a Guest Services Representative will direct you to a rain location. Please leave a rain location in the same condition found. Remove all trash before leaving the area. Dallas Heritage Village reserves the right to charge for damages and cleaning fees of our facilities.

Barnyard Parties for Pre-Schoolers



It’s never too early to give your preschooler a glimpse into history. Each structured Barnyard Party lasts 1 ½ to 2 hours.

Fee: $200 DHV members; $250 Non-members
Age: children turning 3 and up to 5
Limit: 15 children (additional children are $10 each, up to a maximum of 20); one adult requested for every five children
Facilitator: one Village staff member included for crafts, reading stories and basic walking tour

Down on the Farm
Hear a couple of fun animal stories, feed chickens, visit Nip and Tuck and decorate a bandana to take home!
Books inlcude: Cook-A-Doodle-Doo by Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel and Donkey Nina and the Giant by John Carroll.

Little Ladies and Gentlemen (Victorian)
Hear some tales about good manners, make a fancy fan and take a walk through an old-fashioned home!
Books inlcude: Miss Spider’s Tea Party by David Kirk and The Thingumajig Book of Manners by Irene Keller.
Let’s Go to Town
Hear the classic tale of the Country Mouse and the City Mouse and other stories, decorate a treat bag and take a walk on Main Street.
Books inlcude: To Market, To Market by Anne Miranda and The Country Mouse and the City Mouse by John Wallner.


Addtional Birthday Party Details


The Museum Provides:

  • A historical setting.
  • Dedicated space (location determined by theme)
  • Craft supplies and planned activities (determined by theme)
  • Basic paper goods (cups, plates, plasticware, etc.)
  • Free parking at the Village
  • Free museum admission for all children and adults attending your party
You Provide:
  • Party invitations (Please provide guests with a directions to the Village. Click here for a map.)
  • Cake, beverages and other snacks
Things to Know and Remember:
  • Book your party at least three weeks in advance.
  • A $50 deposit is required to secure your date.
  • Final payment is due no later than one week prior to your party.
  • Parties are held during regular musuem hours.
  • An age range for each type of party has been noted because themes, crafts and activities have been specifically designed for those ages.
  • Due to space limitations, there is a maximum number of children for each party type.
  • Dallas Heritage Village is an outdoor museum. Parties are held rain or shine. Please remind all guests to dress for the weather.
