The Dallas Heritage Village Guild

If you are interested in local history and enjoy making a difference
through volunteer efforts then the Dallas Heritage Village Guild is for you.
Dallas Heritage Village is dedicated to the history of Dallas and North Texas from the period of 1840 to 1910.
The Dallas Heritage Village Guild's goal is to support and promote Dallas Heritage Village
by volunteering our time and talents. We teach the history of the buildings,
work in the Village Gift Shop, help out in the office and bake goodies for the
Candlelight bake sale.

Our activities include monthly meetings with speakers on everything
from the Hope Diamond to the Old Red Courthouse to collecting antique
glassware. In the spring we have a luncheon with a speaker to honor
all the volunteers, install officers for the new year and award service
pins to deserving volunteers.
We also have an annual trip to various places around Texas where we
visit historical homes and museums as well as some time for shopping.
Some past trips across Texas include Waco, McKinney, Mineola and
Jacksboro.

The Fall Luncheon and Silent Auction is just one of the numerous events
where the Guild raises thousands of dollars for the Museum. Other events
the Guild has sponsored include a vintage clothing style show with musical,
and a bake sale held at Dallas Heritage Village's Candlelight during the winter holidays.
We also have a cookbook with recipes
from many of our members and their ancestors. Or if you are an animal lover,
the Guild also supports "Farmstead Friends" where you can adopt one of the
Museum's many heritage livestock animals for a year. The donation covers the
feed, vet bills and tender loving care for our cow, sheep, chickens, goats and
donkeys.
The money raised from these activities helps the Museum in many ways. We
have provided curtains, upholstery and drapery for the Sullivan House as
well as directional signs throughout the Museum. Through donations, we
helped extend the Heritage Walkway from the entrance to Main Street. We a
lso help fund the 1860s Living Farmstead and funded the construction of
a cellar house.
The common thread that binds us together is our love for Dallas History,
Dallas Heritage Village and volunteerism. We would love to have you join us. For
