Registration
Do I have to register in advance? When is the deadline for registration? You must register and pay for Plow, Plant and Shear in advance. The deadline for 2008 is Friday, April 4. You can register online, by mail, or by phone. If registering online, please enter your troop number in the comments box.
How can I pay the registration fees? You can pay in advance with a check, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
What if some of my girls can’t make it after I’ve already paid their registration? There are no refunds after the deadline of April 4, so please be sure to get an accurate count.
What if additional people end up coming that are not pre-registered? You can pay for additional people at the gate if your troop is pre-registered.
Can I purchase the Scout Day patches on-site? You are more than welcome to purchase the Scout Day patches on-site, but they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Logistics
Where is Dallas Heritage Village? Dallas Heritage Village is located just south of downtown Dallas, near Farmer’s Market. A map and more specific directions can be found here. Special event parking does not apply for this event.
Where do I park? Parking is free, and there will be staff to direct you to a spot.
Can we bring a picnic lunch? Absolutely! We no longer have a restaurant on-site, though you can purchase snacks and beverages in our Guest Services Office. There will be picnic space available in Nancy’s Garden, on the eastern edge of the museum. We do not have space to store your lunches, but you are more than welcome to exit the museum and return with your lunches, as long as you're still wearing your admission sticker.
What else should we bring? Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and bottled water for your troop. Feel free to bring your camera, but remember that photos can only be taken outside. Interior photos are not permitted in order to preserve our artifacts. Don’t forget to bring money for our museum store located in Guest Services!
What will the day be like? There will be on-going activities throughout the day, as well as a few scheduled events. The on-going activities include demonstrations by artisan groups, hands-on crafts for the girls, visiting with our historic characters, and seeing our many restored buildings. Many badge requirements can be fulfilled during the course of the day—a list of these will be a part of your registration packet. Scheduled events include various contests. You will receive a program in your registration packet the morning of the event.
What if it rains? As many of you know, Dallas Heritage Village is an outdoor museum. If it rains, the event will go on! Some activities will be moved indoors, but all visitors should dress for the weather.
My question hasn't been answered. Who can I contact? You can contact our reservations co-ordinator via phone (214-413-3674) or e-mail her.
