LIVE PERFORMANCE BY MARK CHESNUTT!
"Blame It On Texas” for giving country music fans Mark Chesnutt. From the honky-tonks of Beaumont to the Grand Ole Opry, Mark Chesnutt has been bringing his own authentic country style to audiences for three decades. This CMA Horizon Award winner and one of Billboard’s Ten Most-Played Radio Artists of the ‘90’s performs live at GONE TO TEXAS in Gilley’s Palladium Ballroom. Don’t miss your chance to see Mark Chesnutt singing favorites like “Bubba Shot the Jukebox” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” to music from his new album being released April 29.

Q: What is GONE TO TEXAS?

A: GONE TO TEXAS (GTT) is Dallas Heritage Village's largest annual fundraising event and a term used by 19th century southerners who decided to pull up stakes and move to a land where opportunity called. They often carved the initials "GTT" on their front doors to let others know they had gone to a better place...Texas.

Q: When and where is the next GONE TO TEXAS?

A: GONE TO TEXAS 2008 is on Saturday, Apirl 5 at Gilley's Dallas in the Palladium Ballroom (1135 South Lamar Street). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Our chairman is Tricia Hosek.


If you are located north and are taking 75 South into Downtown...
Take 75 South to I-30 West. As you take the curve to I-30 West, stay in the right-hand lane and exit on your right at Ervay. Stay on this road (the Ervay exit road becomes Griffin West) until you reach Canton (As you approach Canton, you will be near Eddie Deen’s and the Convention Center). At Canton, turn left, then left again on South Lamar. Gilley’s is about four blocks down South Lamar on your right.

If you are located north and are taking the Tollway into Downtown...
Stay on the Tollway heading South until it ends and follow Harry Hines towards downtown. As you go under Woodall Rogers Freeway bear to your right and take Field through downtown to Griffin continuing through downtown to Canton. At Canton, turn right and go to South Lamar and turn left. Gilley’s is about four blocks down on your right.

If you are located north and are taking I-35 E South into Downtown...
Take I-35E South until it meets I-30. Take I-30 East (Texarkana) and your first exit will be Lamar/Griffin St. Take the Lamar exit which will loop you around to a stoplight. Take a left at the light (Lamar) and Gilley's Dallas will be on your right.

If you are located south and are taking I-35 E North into Downtown...
Take I-35E North and take the Industrial Blvd./Cadiz St. exit which will take you to a stoplight. Go straight through the light (you will be on Cadiz) which will hit Lamar St. Take a right on Lamar and Gilley's will be on your right.

If you are located west and are taking I-30 East into Downtown...
Take I-30 East. The first exit after the I-35E and I-30 intersection will be Lamar/Griffin St. Take the Lamar St. exit which will loop you around to a stoplight. Take a left at the light (Lamar) and Gilley's Dallas will be on your right.

If you are located east and are taking I-30 West into Downtown...
Take I-30 West and exit Ervay St. which will lead you to a stoplight. Go straight through the light which will bring you to the Akard St. stoplight. Go straight through that light and the road will curve right. Go straight through another light which will lead you back over I-30, then take a left at the access road stop light which then leads you to Lamar St. Take a left on Lamar and Gilley's Dallas will be on you right.

Q: Who benefits from GONE TO TEXAS?

A: Proceeds from GONE TO TEXAS benefit Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park, Dallas' only living history museum. We're proud that 35,000 schoolchildren visit us every year to learn about Texas history in a lively and engaging, hands-on manner. Dallas Heritage Village is one of only five museums in the city of Dallas accredited by the American Association of Museums.

Q: What happens at GONE TO TEXAS?

A: The evening begins with an open bar, appetizers and the opportunity to buy chance tickets for spectacular luxury items, including jewelry and trips. Guests will be invited to enjoy a Texas feast from G-Texas Catering. A fast-moving acution follows dinner, then Mark Chestnut takes the stage.

Q: How much are tickets?

A: Individual tickets are $175, $300, $500 and $1,000. Sponsorship packages start at $3,500. For more information on sponsorship opportunities or tickets, contact Mark Leopando, Development Assistant, at 214-413-3663. Individual tickets may also be purchased online.

Q: Is the public invited?

A: Yes - if tickets are purchased in advance, no later than Thursday, March 27. Tickets will not be sold at the event.

Q: What is the attire?

A: Jeans and boots or fancier western wear. This is a casual, Texas-style evening - leave your tux at home!
