The
Pioneer Experience
Tour is a first-person experience tour which provides a look at
emigration to Texas through the eyes of the Peters Colony Land Agents. The
agents were prone to much exaggeration about the bounties of Texas life when
selling land was the goal. Mr. Hedgcoxe lauds the virtues of Peter's
Colony Lands to potential immigrants.
Guests play the role of potential
emigrants during the 1-hour tour which features encounters
with the inhabitants of the town.
A stroll down the brick lined Main Street will pass the bank, which has on occasion been robbed.
Then the potential emigrants will visit the large Kennedy Farmstead, where they can have an up
close look at life on the prairie from Mrs. Kennedy and her cousin Erastus Rausch, including stories of nearby Indian raids.

The experience ends at Millermore where they have lunch on the
back lawn and hear stories and gossip about the town.
The Ladies engage in a
'little information' sharing while Mr. Rausch listens in.
Prior to or just after the experience portion of the tour, the group will tour the Victorian side of the village,
giving time
for questions and information outside the first person venue in a guided tour
format.
The tour guests receive a flyer with information from the Texas Land and
Emigration Company and a souvenir bandanna to keep.
Pioneer Experience Tour Schedule:
