TIME TRAVELER HISTORY CAMPS

Pages from the Past

 June 20-24 & July 18-22
10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Ages: 7-12

 Explore the past through the eyes of some of your favorite characters from classic children�s literature.  Become Jo March, Laura Ingalls or Anne Shirley for a day!  Each day, we will dive into a different book through crafts,  activities & food. 

Featured books include Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Betsy-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace, All-of-a-Kind Family by Sydney Taylor & Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery.  Books will be available for purchase in the museum store prior to & during camp.

Limit: 25 children per session

Cost: $150/non-members & $130/members
Cost includes snacks & supplies for daily crafts.  Campers should bring their own lunch & drink.


A Day in the Life

  June 13-17 and July 11-15
  10:00 am to 3:00 pm
  Ages: 7-12

What at was it like to be a soldier during the Civil War?  A Texas Ranger?  A pioneer farmer?  A wagonmaster?  Or a businessman trying to build a new town?  Find out through this very special camp.  Each day, you will live the life of a different type of historical person.  Experience their lives through activities, crafts and food.

 Limit: 25 children per session

 Cost: $150/non-members and $130/members
Cost includes snacks and supplies for daily crafts.  Campers should bring their own lunch and drink.


Junior Historians

June 6-10; 9:30�12:30

Ages: 12 and up   Cost: $20

 Do you love history?  Have you always wondered what life was like �back then?�   Every year, Junior Historians participate in a week long camp that gives them the tools they need to be volunteers at Old City Park.  Then, throughout the year, they volunteer--whether it be at a special event, as a building guide, or as part of a group volunteer project.  In   addition, you can participate in the Junior Historian Book Club, where we read a variety of historical fiction.

Members of Old City Park receive a $20 discount per camp.  Call 214-413-3663 to find out more about other membership benefits.

 Registration begins on December 15, 2004.  If you register by February 15, 2005, you will receive a $10 discount.  Registration ends on June 3.  Any registrations after that date will be charged a $20 late fee.

Camps do fill up, so please register early to guarantee your spot.
