Volunteer Opportunities
As a volunteer, you will discover Texas history in a unique way, meet new people
and experience the delight of visitors as they connect with our shared past.
Volunteer Positions Include:
Weekday Building Guides work with the over 30,000
school children that visit our museum every year. Weekday building guides are
volunteers willing to work with children of varying ages and are enthusiastic
about sharing concepts and information to bright young minds.
Weekend Building Guides give tours of the Village
buildings to our visitors. There are many different buildings to choose from,
including six different houses, the church, school, railroad depot, hotel,
Doctors office and Main Street buildings. Building guides will also have lots
of opportunities to expand their historical knowledge.
Museum Store volunteers like to interact with people
and enjoy helping people choose from our stores reproduction items.
Office/Library volunteers assist with special
projects such as mailings, data entry, research projects, and library
maintenance. The possibilities are endless--if you have a particular talent,
let us know! Office volunteers are most often scheduled during weekday office
hours.
Special Event volunteers help with our monthly
events, assisting with craft projects or helping staff with demonstrations and
activities. Special event volunteers frequently interact with families as they
experience the museum. No minimum commitment or advanced training is required
for special events.
Curatorial volunteers help care for the collection.
Inventory, light cleaning and data entry are ongoing tasks necessary for the
caring of Museum artifacts. Curatorial volunteers are trained and scheduled by
the Collections Manager and work during weekday office hours.
Special Talent/Demonstrator volunteers have a unique
talent to share with Old City Park and our visitors. Were looking for
seamstresses, gardeners, musicians, and crafty people, but the possibilities are
limitless. Let us know what you have to offer, and well find a place for you.
