School Tour
Frequently Asked Questions
|
Where do we eat
lunch?
School tour groups have a
designated picnic site with a limited number of picnic tables, but
plenty of green space. Please note that we do not have a place to store
lunches and we cannot guarantee a covered picnic area in the event of
inclement weather.
How do I book a
school tour?
Tours are booked through our reservation line at 214-413-3665.
Tour dates are booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Old City
Parks Tour Manager will ask you a series of questions such as your
preferred dates, grade level, and class size to assist you in a smooth
booking process.
What is the
admission fee?
The admission fees for school tours are: $4.00 for students,
$5.00 for chaperones, and teachers are free!
What time can we
tour?
Our efficient ticket office staff will begin checking in groups
at 10:00am. The History Hunts are not set on a specific time table.
Your class is welcome to come in at the most convenient time for your
schedule.
How long does a
History Hunt take?
History Hunts are designed to
give your students the full experience at Old City Park. Please allow
your students at least one hour to complete the grade specific
curriculum.
In addition to completing
the hunt, we encourage you and your class to self-tour any other
locations and perhaps while at lunch or upon returning to your
classroom, share the information and discoveries as there are five
different hunts per grade level.
May I add to my
reservation?
Additions to your reservation
may be made two days in advance to your scheduled tour date.
Can you give me a
refund if a student is absent?
Sorry, no refunds are available
due to student absence or cancellations.
Can I bring a
camera?
Sure! Cameras can be used
outside, but please, absolutely no indoor photography. Flash
photography is harmful to our artifacts. We must protect them for
future generations to see.
When is my payment
due?
Payments are due two weeks prior to your scheduled tour date.
Do
Old City Parks school tours align with the
TAKS and TEKS objectives?
Yes! We are aligned with
social studies and history objectives as well as math, science, and
reading in most grade levels. |
