A Brief
Explanation of Old City Parks
School Tour Program
|
Have you ever wondered what life was like in early Dallas? Take a
step back in time as students become Dallas History Detectives to
explore the mysteries and wonders of life in early Dallas. Using a
grade specific History Hunt (based on a scavenger hunt theme) students
will discover the Village through five unique categories: architecture,
animals, people, technology and furniture.
Upon arrival at the museum, please have one person from your school
check in at the ticket office. After your brief orientation, you will
be given your supplies to complete your school tour. You will be given
one history hunt set of questions (20-25 questions) for every two
students. Students will work in pairs to find the answers for their
history hunt. For example, if you booked 50 students then you will be
given 25 sets of questions. Your students will be supplied with pencils
for answering the questions.
Since the history hunts are divided into five categories, you will
receive sets of questions in each of the categories. For example, your
50 students from the example above will receive 5 sets of questions from
each of the 5 categories for a total of 25 sets of questions.
Teachers and chaperons will be given a map of the grounds for
touring. You may tour the museum at your own pace. The history hunts
are designed to take at least one hour to complete. Please note that we
will give you a set of answers to all of the history hunt questions upon
your departure from the museum. If you have difficulty finding an
answer to a question while on your tour, please feel free to ask any of
the museum staff.
Upon completion of the history hunt, we encourage your students to
share their category specific hunt with other students who have
different hunts. As a result, you students can learn new information
from each other.
