Picturing the Texan Utopia:  Texas Centennial Postcards
May 25th from 12-1p.m. in the Pilot Grove Church

Ms. Melissa Prycer, Curator of Education at Old City Park, will discuss Texas Centennial postcards and how they were used for souvenirs as well as marketing tools.

Souvenir postcards are often described as a 20th century artifact, a key witness to the things we see and the way we see them.  How did postcards shape the memories of one of the biggest events in Dallas history?  These postcards helped spread the vision of a new, modern Texas throughout the nation.  More than souvenirs, they were also marketing tools.  Take a look at some of these postcards as you ask yourself - how close are they to reality?
