On May 3, 2003, Dallas voters will be asked to support some of our citys most valued current and future art facilities, including Old City Park: The Historical Village of Dallas, by voting Yes to Proposition 5 and Proposition 12 for the arts as a part of the $555 million bond campaign.  Approving all 17 Propositions is essential to help ensure a vibrant future for the city of Dallas, especially its cultural institutions and organizations.
Propositions 5 and 12 will strengthen the Dallas arts community.

Old City Park is on Proposition 12, for $1 million, to be used for site development on land already secured for future expansion.

If approved on May 3, Proposition 5 and Proposition 12 will provide $29 million total in direct support to the cultural arts in Dallas.  These funds will:

  • Begin site development for Old City Park: The Historical Village of Dallas.
  • Build basic infrastructure for the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts.
  • Design an Arts District venue dedicated to the smaller arts organizations.
  • Renovate the Annette Strauss Artist Square in the Dallas Arts District.
  • Expand the Sammons Center for the Arts.
  • Modernize the Dallas Black Dance Theatres facilities.
