"WHAT INDEPENDENCE DAY MEANS TO ME AND MY FAMILY"

Old City Park's
Old Fashioned Fourth of July Art Contest

Patriotismone little word conjures up so many images to different people. What does it mean to you? Well, if you, or someone in your family, are attending kindergarten through 8th gradewe want to know!

Old City Park, The Historical Village of Dallas, is again having an art contest in conjunction with their annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July on July 4th. The specific theme of the contest is "What Independence Day Means to Me and My Family."

The grade categories are -
kindergarten through second grade
third through fifth grade
sixth through eighth grade.

A panel of judges will select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and two "Honorable Mentions" in each grade group.

Fifteen prizes, from Asel Art Supplies, will be presented during the noon ceremony at Old-Fashioned Fourth of July at Old City Park. All entries will be displayed at the event to demonstrate the diversity of children in this community and how they visualize independence, no matter what their background may be. All children who participate will receive a certificate of recognition and a free ticket to the event.

Each entry must be submitted with an official registration form that can be obtained at Old City Park at 1717 Gano Street or at any participating Asel Art Supply. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2001. If you have any other questions about the contest, please call Marie E. Chiles, Special Projects Coordinator, at 214-421-5141, ext. 109.
