Where Learning is Historically Fun!


Village Academy invites your child to step into the past.
Classes are designed for children ages 4 to 11 and take approximately 2 hours.
All classes begin at 2 p.m. Space is limited, so register early!
Dallas Heritage Village members receive a $2 discount on each registration. (Only
one discount per membership.) Each family that signs up for 5 or more classes receives
a $2 discount on each registration. (Only one discount per family.)

Something’s Cooking
Take a cooking class in Miller Cabin. Learn how early pioneers
cooked on an open hearth and then share a meal with your classmates!

Spring Fling!
How did 19th century children spend their free time on a spring
day? Learn games children played in the Victorian era like Croquet,
hoops and marbles. Finish the afternoon with a special treat from Mrs. Blum.

Swinging Saloon
Get a special behind the scenes look at an old time saloon.
Help Mr. Schmidt open for the day, serve root beer, and play
some old time card games.

The Sewing Circle
All little girls knew how to sew in the 19th century. Learn
some basic stitches and take a sewing kit home to practice on your own!

Learn about traditional Tejano life and crafts from Mrs. de Léon
in the Section House. Create a paper flower, practice some

Spend an afternoon assisting Mrs. Clementine with her Mammoth Jack
Donkeys, Nip and Tuck.

Learn what “going down town” was like in the late 19th century.
Explore Main Street, help Mr. Schmidt stock the general store, make
some deliveries and create your own advertisement to bring in business.

How Does your Garden Grow?
Travel back in time to the days when you couldn’t go grocery shopping!
Help plant crops at the 1861 Farmstead, then plant your own herb to take home.

Enjoy a proper tea party with Mrs. Blum while learning about

You must register at least 1 week in advance.

All classes have a required minimum. The musuem will cancel classes if the minimum has not been reached one week prior
to the class date. You will receive a full refund or you may transfer to another class if space is available.

If you wish to cancel your reservation, you must do so no later than one week prior to the class start date. You will
receive a full refund, less a $3 per registration handling fee. If you cancel within one week of the class, you will
not receive a refund.
